Getting our certification: Sharm El Sheikh

Our Diving adventures started in Novmber 2003, when we decided to spend our complete holiday to learn Scuba Diving. After some research on the web we decided to book at Sinai Divers in Sharm El Sheikh. We were with a small groupe of 5 people: a couple from the UK, a Dutch guy and the two of us. Our dive instructor was a Japanese woman, called Kahori (Petra's hero for life). She was assisted by Stefan. A Belgian guy who was in the process of becoming an insructor (and still had a lot to learn). The total course to get certified took us 6 full days, as Kahori was very serious about who to grant and who not to grant certification. At that time this 'attitude' gave us a lot more confidence about our skills (compared to the 'if you jump in another time you are certified' you tend to hear here and there). Retrospectively, being more experienced, we know it should be the only way!! During the last Open Water Dive of the course (the 'certification dive'), Petra saw her first Eagle Ray. It has been here favourit animal to see underwater since. So gracefull and allways with a smile on their face. It can't be a coincidence that the Sinai Divers logo is an Eagle Ray!
